Jack’s Wish

Jack and his mom couldn’t believe the transformation of the Hickory Grove Road building.  As they walked the halls recently, Jack’s eyes were glued to the Oz area where he busied himself finding ruby slippers, the Tin Man, flying monkeys, and other fun things hidden on the walls.  His mom’s favorite room was “The Wizard Room” with a fireplace, serpent, and other wizardry things on the wall.

“I wish my room was like this,” was all Jack could say.  “Can this same thing be done at the Brady Street building?” was his mom’s reaction.

The positive impact the new space has had on participants and staff is clearly evident, and Jack’s mom wants the same thing for her son who attends services at the Brady Street location.  That’s understandable.  Everyone wants the best for their kids.

Jack has attended Daily Discovery programs for many years, first at Hickory Grove and now at Brady Street.  If his health remains good, he’ll continue to go there for a long time.  Unlike schools, where kids move up the grades and eventually leave the building, people in our day programs may attend for 20, 30, or 40 years.  They deserve a vibrant, inviting space to spend their days.

Many generous donors helped make the Hickory Grove Road project come to life.  Now, you can make Jack’s wish come true for everyone at the Brady Street building too.
