Gifts of cash are always welcome. Simply make a check out to “Empowering Abilities” and drop it off or put it in the mail. If you want to make the gift in memory of or in honor of someone, just enclose a note. If your company has a matching gift program, simply enclose the form along with your check.

Empowering Abilities accepts gifts of homes, farms, and lots under certain stipulations. Contact the Development Office at 563-391-4834 for more information.

Several options are available when gifting life insurance. Some of these options can be carried out by simply completing a form that can be obtained from the insurance company.

Here are several options:

• Purchase a new policy or donate one you currently own and no longer need
• Name Empowering Abilities as the beneficiary or partial beneficiary to a policy
• Assign ownership of a life insurance policy to Empowering Abilities

Leaving a legacy through your will offers many options, such as:

• Specifying a specific amount of money
• Leaving a specific piece of property (a house, jewelry, collections, etc.)
• Designating a percentage or fraction of the estate
• Leaving a residual bequest after all other bequests are satisfied.

You can transfer stock through a simple form available by contacting the Development Office or have your broker contact us. By making a direct transfer of appreciated securities to Empowering Abilities, you can avoid capital gains tax.

Naming Empowering Abilities as a beneficiary of retirement account assets and leaving other assets to heirs can avoid some tax liabilities for the heirs.

Having updated indoor and outdoor games and activities allows us to provide a better quality program for the individuals attending Daily Discovery services.

Three Massage Therapy Mats … $115 each

Full body massage therapy mats help folks who experience poor circulation. They are also helpful to calm folks when they are experiencing stressful situations.

Puzzles with knobs (10) … $20 each = $200 

For individuals who are unable to manipulate regular puzzle pieces, these puzzles have handles on the pieces.  They are educational, adapted, and fun!

 Wheelchair Repairs and Adaptations … $300 to $500 each

Wheelchair adaptations are often needed as people grow or their medical conditions change. Wheelchair repairs are often necessary as wheelchairs age. The average cost of adaptations or repairs is $300 to $500 each.

Sensory Items … $250 

A variety of items are needed for sensory stimulation–things that residents can touch, smell, feel, and hear.

Community Activity Fund … $350

This fund is used to provide funds to individuals with limited resources so they are able to participate in community activities.

Pantry Items … $200 – $400

This fund is used to replace basic needs items such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, deodorant, and non-perishable food items.
